A must for all collectors of old toys and trains

John Morgan with a very rare Chad Valley tinplate Games Van The Rugby Vintage Fair and Exhibition is always a very popular show and sees many visitors return year after year.

Visitors can expect to find trains for sale by manufacturers such as Hornby, Bassett-Lowke, Marklin, Tri-ang, Hornby Dublo, Trix, Jouef, Bing, ACE and Darstead. As well as the trains there will be tinplate clockwork novelty toys and Dinky and Corgi Toys for sale.

A working layout at the 2009 Rugby Vintage The 15th May event features 100 stalls filled with a great variety of toys and trains from years gone by.

The 1st October fair features 90 stalls full of toys and trains as well as working layouts running throughout the day. Visitors can vote for their favourite layout or display and a trophy is awarded to the winner in the afternoon.

Many of the country's top vintage train dealers are at Rugby. Simon Goodyear of Train Time, Dean Green, Mike Brown, Much Ado About Toys, Mike Delaney, Mike Cooke, Alan Vines, Barry Crocker, ACE Trains, Irving Brim, Ron Rayner, H & D Toys, Bob Field, Ron Ellis, Tony Cooper and Tony Oakes are just a few of the traders who appear at each event.

As well as trains, many of the sales tables feature vintage tinplate toys and diecast models including Dinky, Solido and Corgi Toys, Schuco, Marklin and Lehmann toys, Tri-ang Minics, Sutcliffe boats, steam engines and many other vintage toys and games.

There are several specialist spares dealers at the event who stock all those hard to find replacement parts for Hornby and similar locomotives and their accessories.

Representatives from specialist Toy and Train Auctioneers Vectis Auctions are available throughout the day offering a free valuation service for all types of collectable toys and trains. If you are unsure of the make or value of any items in your collection you can bring them along for free expert advice or a valuation.

A refreshment counter selling hot and cold drinks and snacks is open throughout the day.
